Ultegra, the lightweight workhorse of the Shimano road range features all the best pro peloton proven technology developed, tested, and trickled down directly from the top end Dura Ace group. The latest R8000 series is more intuitive to use than its predecessor, resulting in less rider fatigue and more enjoyment. • Shift/Brake Levers : The carbon fibre levers are precision engineered optimizing incredibly light weight with powerful braking performance. The levers have a shift arc that is engineered to follow natural hand movement with a reduced inward shift stroke distance for rapid and precise gear changes. Polymer coated cables provide smoother shifting with vivid indexing to deliver a constant amount of shift lever force across all 11 sprockets. Reach adjusters enable custom lever positioning making it easy to get the fit dialed in for riders that demand perfection. 

• Chainset : The cold forged aluminum chainset offers an ideal balance of light weight and stiffness. The cranks utilize a definitive Shimano hallmark of engineering in HollowTech II technology, refined over many years of product development the hollow arms allow Shimano to use less aluminum whilst still achieving the desired strength. The 4-arm drive side crank integrates flawlessly with the Hollow Glide outer chain ring offering vast improvements in rigidity by virtually removing outer chainring flex. The chain ring teeth have been developed to work harmoniously with 11-speed HG-EV chains for increased contact to provide greater efficiency, improved power transfer, and improved shift performance even under high load. 

• Derailleurs : The rear derailleur uses Shimano Shadow road technology with a low-profile that reduces the risk of damage from knocks. The derailleur has wide link design for quick accurate shifting and reduced shifting deflection. A lightweight aluminum pulley cage helps to reduce the weight of the derailleur without sacrificing shifting performance. The front derailleur features toggle link design which results in a shorter lever movement that lightens the shift action to match the force curve of the hand more naturally. A wide inner derailleur link plate increases the mechanisms cage rigidity and improves shifting performance especially under heavy load. The forged wide link cradles the axle pivot at both ends providing a smooth shifting between chain rings. 

• Cassette & Chain : The lightweight 11-speed HG-EV cassette utilizes a rigid alloy sprocket carrier for reduced weight and better shifting performance, even under the most demanding gear changes. The Hyper glide sprockets have been designed to reduce weight with improved teeth shaping providing accurate shifting and reduced wear. A wider gear range meets the demands of all types of rider. The cassette supports the super narrow symmetrical design chain perfectly. Shimano Sil-Tec surface treatment technology on the chain links and rollers ensures smooth running and increases durability. The inner link plate has been developed for better contact with gears providing smoother shifting under high load and more efficient pedaling. 

• Brake Callipers : The Dual-pivot calliper brakes utilize Shimano super SLR-EV design for increased rigidity and improved braking power. Used in conjunction with SLR levers that provide perfect leverage ratio the enhanced brake arch proportions give a quicker linear response for direct and predictable braking power. The brake uses a low-profile outer cable stop position that improves cable routing for reduced friction. The R8000 brake uses adjustable spring tension for precision set-up. The brake pads have adjustable toe-in on the brake shoes for easy set up with the added clearance needed for compatibility with 28c tyres.
