Specialized Men's Chisel DSW Comp 29er (CHAR/BLACK)

If you’re desperate to give cross-country racing a try, take the plunge with the Chisel Comp.

This bike embodies all the qualities you'd expect from an XC race bike; it's lightweight, with incredible stiffness throughout the build, and benefits from a race-oriented geometry that’ll have you railing every single bend. The Chisel Comp is Specialized’s way of bringing performance to the masses.

Traditional welding methods, where the skill of the welder dictates the performance and security of the connection, just didn't make sense to us – that's why we developed D’Aluisio SmartWeld. DSW allows us to move the joint away from the area of the highest stress, making for a build that's every bit as stiff, compliant, and strong as other alloy framesets. When you test ride it, you’ll realise this bike has all the characteristics of a dream XC machine.

To further improve the Chisel’s ride feel, it also features our XC 29 geometry, a beautiful, barnstorming hybrid of our XC race geo and some extra trail DNA.

We’ve made the top tube longer while shortening the head tube, and adding a little more slack to that front end. The payoff for these tweaks? How about massive improvements in downhill stability, plus a wider fit range without sacrificing any of the bike’s climbing punch?

The build features a mixture of Shimano Deore and XT two-by components, giving you a wide range of gears to choose from. You'll also find powerful MT500 Deore hydraulic disc brakes, a historically revered RockShox Judy fork with up to 100mm of travel (size-specific), and 25mm alloy wheels optimised for weight and traction.

  • Given its lightweight and ultra-stiff characteristics, M5 aluminum was the natural choice for the frame's construction. And when complemented with our speed-focused XC 29 Geometry, D'Aluisio Smartweld technology, and internal cable routing, you get a bike that compromises nothing in delivering explosive speed, confident handling, and hassle-free maintenance.

  • Rocks and bumps are soaked up via the RockShox Judy fork with 90/100 millimeters of travel (size-specific). It features proprietary technology from RockShox, like its Solo Air™ spring, that maintains an ideal equilibrium, as well as being one of the lightest air springs on the market.

  • The Shimano Deore XT rear derailleur is one of the most sought after components in mountain biking. It's remarkably reliable, precise and crisp in its shifting, and is nothing if not durable.
