The Rival does it all. Even for an indecisive bummer like me. A solid display in the brightest burning sun, and the HR sensor is really close to what my Tickr X shows me. A far as multi-sport watch goes, it's perfect and really goes along with the minimal aesthetic Wahoo is known for. Easy setup and simple operation. The best thing is that the outer strap holder has a thingy that goes into the eyelets of the strap, really keeping it in place. Straps coming loose is surely an annoyance and this fixes it really well.
A couple of pointers to note:
1. The firmware the watch ships with is tacky. Lacks a lot of features, most of them fixed by the new firmware. Even gives music control. Everyone likes that.
2. The initial firmware update is a headache. The blue update button in the Wahoo Companion app didn't show up for days, and it suddenly did. My best bet, I didn't charge it fully the first time around since I stupidly used the Apple wall adapter (which the instruction manual advises against). Use any other wall adapter, or better yet, charge it through a computer for a full and sure charge.
3. I don't know if I'm impatient, but the GPS takes a while to lock on. Particularly goofy when I'm standing in the middle of the road or the park for the GPS to catch on.
4. No NFC payment option (like Garmin Pay), sleep tracker, HRV, or SPO2 monitoring. However, this is a pure sport watch and not a lifestyle device. So it's fair. However, I would like these features to be included either with a firmware update, or maybe the next Rival. These may be really important features for a few, especially HRV and SPO2 monitoring due to the prevailing times.
A solid "recommend" for any Wahooligan out there. 8.5/10.
