A gravel bike for riders who want genuine all-surface capability without a top-tier price, with a 12-speed SRAM Apex XPLR drivetrain and a carbon fork to keep long, rough miles comfortable.
Overview
The Checkpoint ALR 5 is built on a 300 Series Alpha Aluminium frame with a tapered head tube, internal cable routing and a carbon fork. Finished in Matte Keswick, it is a bike designed to hold up over long days on pavement, dirt and rougher gravel roads.
Power comes from a 1x12 SRAM Apex XPLR drivetrain with an 11-44 cassette and a 40T DUB crank, stopped by SRAM Apex hydraulic disc brakes with 160 mm Paceline rotors. Bontrager Paradigm tubeless-ready wheels carry GR1 Team Issue 700x40 mm tyres, and the frame adds integrated frame bag mounts plus rack and mudguard mounts.
It makes sense for riders who want one bike that can commute during the week, cover a long road ride on Saturday and head onto unpaved roads on Sunday.
Why You'll Like It
A wide gear range from one shifter
The SRAM Apex XPLR 1x12 drivetrain and 11-44 cassette give you low gears for steep gravel climbs and taller gears for road stretches, with no front derailleur to adjust.
Confident hydraulic disc braking
Hydraulic flat-mount discs with 160 mm rounded CentreLock rotors give strong, controllable stopping on long descents and loaded rides.
Tubeless-ready wheels and tyres
Paradigm rims and GR1 Team Issue tyres are tubeless-ready, so you can set up tubeless with sealant to run lower pressures for extra grip and comfort.
A carbon fork for a smoother ride
The Checkpoint carbon fork with a tapered carbon steerer helps take the edge off rough surfaces on long rides.
Mounts for bags and accessories
Integrated frame bag mounts plus rack and mudguard mounts on the frame and fork make it easy to carry bags, luggage and mudguards for commuting or longer trips.
Who Is It For?
Riders who want to explore beyond tarmac: weekend rides out of the city on broken roads, farm tracks and unpaved connectors, or a commute that mixes smooth road with rougher patches. The tubeless-ready 700x40 mm tyres and disc brakes handle changing surfaces and wet monsoon roads with confidence.
It also suits road or hybrid riders moving into gravel, and anyone who wants a single bike for training, commuting and light touring, with mounts ready for racks and mudguards.
