Size

An entry-level 27.5" hardtail for riders taking their first step into mountain biking, with nimble handling and a genuinely wide 3x8 gear range.

Overview

The Big.Seven 15 is Merida's entry point into its nimble 27.5" hardtail family — built with the same reliable componentry as the Big.Nine range, but with smaller wheels that suit shorter riders and quicker-handling riding.

A Shimano Tourney 3x8 drivetrain gives a wide 24-gear range that makes steep climbs manageable, an SR Suntour fork smooths out rough ground, and hydraulic disc brakes bring dependable stopping power that's rare at this price point.

It makes the most sense for someone buying their first proper mountain bike — a rider who wants to explore fire roads and easier trails without a steep up-front investment.

Why You'll Like It

Nimble 27.5" handling

Smaller wheels than the Big.Nine range make for quicker, more agile handling — especially useful for shorter riders.

A genuinely wide 24-gear range

The Shimano Tourney 3x8 drivetrain gives an easy gear for steep climbs and a proper top gear for flat stretches.

Hydraulic disc brakes at an entry-level price

Confident, low-maintenance stopping power that many bikes in this price range don't offer.

A comfort-focused riding position

The SPEED frame's upright geometry keeps longer rides comfortable rather than putting you in an aggressive, racy position.

A durable aluminium frame

Merida's frame construction is built for genuine long-term durability, not just a season of riding.

Who Is It For?

The Big.Seven 15 suits someone buying their first real mountain bike — particularly shorter riders who'll appreciate the nimbler 27.5" wheel size — who wants to explore fire roads and easier trails without committing to a premium budget straight away.

For Indian riders starting out on mixed terrain around the city or looking for a dependable weekend trail companion, the wide gear range and hydraulic disc brakes make it a genuinely capable starting point.

Good to Know
  • With a triple chainring, easing off the pedals briefly during a front shift keeps gear changes smooth.
  • Get a proper fit check at your dealer — the smaller 27.5" wheel size often suits shorter riders better than the Big.Nine's 29" wheels.
  • A quick post-ride wipe-down of the fork and drivetrain keeps everything running smoothly between services.
