The Elite Gel 180 is Unived's high-carbohydrate endurance gel, built around a 2:1 ratio of maltodextrin (glucose-based) to fructose carbohydrate. Because the two sugars are absorbed through separate intestinal pathways — glucose via SGLT1, fructose via GLUT5 — the body can take in more carbohydrate per hour than it can from a single sugar source alone, which is the whole point of pairing them this way rather than just packing in more maltodextrin. It sits above Unived's Gel 100 in the range: Gel 100 is a simpler, glucose-based gel suited to a steadier ~50g/hr, while Elite Gel 180 is built for the 80–90g/hr end of fuelling on long or hard days.
Caramel Latte pairs that base formula with a coffee-and-caramel flavour and 35mg of natural anhydrous caffeine per sachet — the lightest of Unived's three caffeinated Elite Gel 180 flavours. Each sachet also carries 400mg Beta-Alanine, 58mg Magnesium and 100mg Potassium, plus 150mg Sodium for electrolyte replacement, and is mixed to a water-based, drinkable consistency rather than the thick, syrupy texture of many gels.
