This surpasses all limits of a 8 speed drivetrain when combined with a 3 speed front crankset which in my case has a low sprocket of 24t, this cassete's 40 t cogs almost gives me 50t ratio just like 1x 12 bike experience in a budget.
Original and a great quality product
Replaced it with the old cassette in my Focus MTB altogether with a new KMC 8 speed chain.........wow you don't have to worry anymore for a steep climb. But make sure your derailleur is compatible.
It does the great job like a MTB bike.It is unbelievable.
Just before my Ladakh trip, I was advised to change my chain. And when I got a new chain, I realised that I needed to chang the cassette too as it was unusable. As I had the toughest climbs ahead of me, I decided to upgrade to a 11-40. I was surprised with the efficiency and throughout the entire, I didn't have to struggle or stop to catch my breath.
The gear shifting is smooth but as the range is spread out, there is a substantial change in the cadence with evey gear change. But that you get used to I a few days.
What you need to check before buying this cassette is if your rear derailleur is compatible with this size (there are other versions such as 12-36, 12-34 and 11-32). Else you will have to replace the rear derailleur too. There are plenty of websites and online material to help sort out the compatibility issues. Hope this helps. Oh, I ride a B'twin RockRider 520. This cycle comes with a mid sized rear derailleur. Cheers.
