The Shimano SL-RS700 2x11-speed shifter is also available in a version for I-Spec II mounting. This allows the shifter to be mounted on a compatible brake lever, which saves space on the handlebars and also reduces weight. The SL-RS700-I was designed for use on road or city bikes with flat handlebars, i.e. without a drop bar. It is equipped with MTB's Rapidfire Plus technology, so it can downshift several gears at once, and has the 2-Way Release function, which allows the release lever to be operated with the index finger (pull) or thumb (push). Also worth noting is Instant Release for super-fast shifting operations, as well as Multi Release for the 11-speed version. In the latter version, one gear can be shifted by pulling and two gears by pressing. The housing of the shifter is made of aluminium, and carbon was also used for the levers. An inner cable with wear-reducing SIL-TEC coating is included.
