Tripeak 3-in-1 Core System G5 T47-86MM Bottom Bracket (Black)
EMA-T4786-SCCB2430
A T47-shell bottom bracket for riders who don't want their frame locked into one crankset, built around Tripeak's ceramic-grade G5 bearings and a core system that swaps between Shimano, SRAM, and ROTOR spindles without buying a second bottom bracket.
Overview
Tripeak built the 3-in-1 Core System around a simple problem: most bottom brackets lock you into one crank spindle standard, so switching a bike from a Shimano HollowTech II crank to a SRAM DUB or ROTOR 3D+ crank usually means buying a whole new bottom bracket. The T47-86mm 3-in-1 uses a T47 threaded shell interface with a set of swappable inner cores and end caps, so the same shell can accept all three spindle standards.
What's actually equipped is a pair of Tripeak's own G5-grade ceramic bearings, running in an Alloy 6061 cup with a glass-fibre-reinforced polyamide (PA+GF) sleeve, plus the core and cap set for 24mm (Shimano HollowTech II), 28.99mm (SRAM DUB), and 30mm (ROTOR 3D+) spindles. T47's larger 47mm shell diameter gives the bearings a wider stance than a standard threaded 68mm shell, which is the main reason T47 frames use it in the first place - more support under the bearing means less flex through the cranks.
In practice, this is the bottom bracket to reach for on a T47-shell frame you expect to keep building on: swap a crankset later and the shell stays exactly as it is, only the core changes.
Why You'll Like It
One shell, three crank standards: swap between Shimano HollowTech II, SRAM DUB, and ROTOR 3D+ cranks on the same bottom bracket by changing the core and caps, instead of buying a new unit for every crank standard.
Ceramic-grade smoothness: the G5 bearing grade is Tripeak's ceramic-ball spec, built to spin with less friction than their steel P05 equivalent.
Durable cup construction: an Alloy 6061 cup paired with a glass-fibre-reinforced polyamide (PA+GF) sleeve is built to handle a T47 shell's daily load without excess weight.
A wider bearing stance: T47's 47mm shell diameter supports the bearings more evenly than a narrower threaded shell, which is part of why modern gravel and all-road frames are increasingly speccing it.
Who Is It For?
Riders on a T47-shell frame - increasingly common on modern gravel and all-road bikes - who want a bottom bracket that won't limit which crankset they can run down the line. If your frame takes a T47 threaded shell, this is the straightforward upgrade over a stock bearing.
It also suits BOTS customers building up a frame from scratch or swapping groupsets, where not knowing your next crankset in advance is normal - the core-swap system means that decision doesn't have to be made twice.
Good to Know
- Fit the core and cap set that matches your crank's spindle diameter (24mm, 28.99mm, or 30mm) before installing.
- Keep the T47 threads clean and lightly greased for a smooth, quiet install.
- Wipe the shell down after wet rides to keep the threads and bearing seals in good condition.
